Josh isn't afraid of fire... - The Rancho Commons

Josh isn't afraid of fire...

Josh (5) had a rough day at school, and was required to write a "parental contact" note. His teacher corrects their phonetic spelling by writing it correctly underneath.

Josh was told to stop talking in line during the fire drill. He then told the person in front of him, "I'm not scared of this so-called fire!" Hence, the note home.

I got a kick out of the inventive, nearly ingenious, yet quite wrong, spelling.

So, it isn't just me then? Really, I post things like this knowing most people won't bother to look. But in a year or two, when I'm re-reading my LJ, (because, yes, my life is expected to be that dull) I will immensely enjoy notes and pics like this that I have forgotten.

That's very wise, and I plan upon doing that too (albeit to a lesser scale since I don't have any kids). When I deleted "recycling", I made sure I downloaded the whole enchilada, burned it onto a CD, and put it in a very safe and protected place.

Nope, not just you. That is super, super cute... you should save it. Give it to him in 15 years or so. I particlarly love the "bricshuns."

p.s. I always look. :)

I had to sign and return it, but I have it on the box for future posterity (and girlfriends).

P.S. Thanks! So do I.

Yay kids! I didn't expect anyone else would think it was cute; thought it was just a dad thing. But, I have underestimated Josh's showmanship!

Yes, folks...that is my nephew! One of the 2 CUTEST kids EVER!!!

Of course, Mom would disagree... about the 2 cutest evahhh thing. But, you are correct, of course!

Yeah...what are they like numbers 3 and 4? It's only fair I guess. We were pretty cute, but man, look what happened. LOL

Too cute. I can't wait until T writes a note like that. Well, maybe not *exactly* like this. You are saving the actual note for posterity, yes?

I can hardly believe that in a mere 2 1/2 years T will go from wildly scribbling in circles to writing notes.

Clearly, by entering my domain, you have forced me to friend you. Male, 40-ish, soon to be two kids, dog... just like me.

Runner, PhD, cat... totally opposite.

Sounds like a good mix!

We can't save the actual note because it goes back to the teacher, but I have a copy saved on the box. It is really fun to watch your child develop their own personality. Everything you've seen thus far is merely the foundation for the personality to come. And it is most exciting to see your second child taking a different course from the very beginning! I almost envy you, but there's that diaper thing, and puking, and not sleeping... I so don't envy you, really.

I have friended you as well.

The running thing is relatively new. About a year and half ago I was 40 lbs. heavier and in terrible shape. High blood pressure, felt terrible. Doc said that by the charts I was morbidly obese. Egads. So I put a plan into place and now my life is different. Speaking of that, how's the New Year's resolution coming?

I'm excited and terrified at the same time. We are outnumbered right now, 1 to 2. I'm not sure what we'll do when it's 2 to 2.

I've been "morbidly obese" most of my adult life. I have lost 12 pounds since starting, mostly without exercise, however that includes several (already!) episodes of a few pounds up and a few back down. I have the same gift/affliction as thunderslug in that I answer inquiries truthfully, sometimes whether I should or not.

We are outnumbered right now, 1 to 2

How true! That made me laugh and remember when Josh was born. It truly seemed our second child tripled our work load. Now that my guys are 5 and 10, we are in a lull before those teen years and things are "manageable" as child-rearing goes: no diapers, self-feeders, sleep through the night in their own bed, etc.

I've already told Allie (the wife) that if she gets pregnant I'm moving to Mexico under an assumed name. Of course I don't really mean that. (That's just to throw her off, I'm going to Europe!)
