For the tinkerers...
If you like tinkering; if you want to make your own case for your new iPod Nano; if you always wanted to make an infrared spotlight/viewer out of a disposable CVS camcorder, or make it re-usable(?)... then this website might interest you. It is the online blog/zine companion to Make magazine, and it has something of interest for nearly everyone.

Better yet, you can add make_podcast to your flist, as someone has already been kind enough to import the RSS feed for the blog into LJ. You get several entries per day which offer a small picture of some project with a brief description and a link. If the project interests you, you click the link and get a full how-to on it. If it doesn't, you've wasted very little time on it! Quite nifty.

Nice! I was just looking up how to hack a disposeable digital camera today. We've been getting disposeables developed at work and they were slapping them on a CD for us for $2.99 a pop. Now, they claim they were charging us wrong and want to charge 6 bucks per camera. Needless to say, we were trying to come up with other options.

Of course my whole hacking idea didn't win...my manager Tim found some dude who would do our regular cameras for $4. Oh well.

Tinkering ROCKS! I'm such a hacker wannabe.

Yeah, I would buy a disposable and disassemble it and see if I could determine how to d/l the pics to my own box. If you find a way, tell your boss you'll do it for $2.00 a piece! It could turn into a nice side job!

For real!!! There are kinds of articles online as to how to do it.

So, do it! Get all entrepreneurial and surprise your boss. It's a win-win as long as you find a pretty easy way to do it. $2 is a deal for him and pure profit for you! I'm telling you, be aggressive and assertive as to your value and this guy will learn to appreciate you more. First you fake the confidence, then you won't have to. TRUST ME ON THIS!

BTW, I'm trying to catch up my commenting. Bear with me.

P.S. But don't teach him how to do it or do it at work, or he will consider it to be "part of the job" and resent/refuse to pay you the extra $2. For REAL!

Found another one, hope it isn't too redundant with the same stuff as Make.
