More about our new neighbor!
Here's a quick pic post about our snake visitor yesterday.

First Dad retrieves the snake from the observation container, after Internet research determines it isn't poisonous.

Evan, the aspiring herpetologist, loves snakes!

Josh loves snakes!

Mom... not so much!

But Allie stepped up and did the good mom thing and held the snake because she wanted to be involved with the rest of us. It was a very difficult thing for her to agree to, and I think everyone appreciated her for going the extra mile with us!

You'll never take away my FREEEEDOOOOMMM!

Live long and prosper brown snake, and eat lots of slugs, worms, and snails from our yard. Thank you!

It was almost more "gumption" than I could muster! I couldn't wait for someone to take it out of my hands--I sure wasn't going to let go of either end of it unless someone else was holding it securely! I know I should be ashamed of myself for being so silly over a little snake, but they just creep me out!

That explanation makes your feat even more impressive :D

I'm not afraid of them but my neighbors were all terrified, including the Dad who was considerably older than me.

They called me in a panic one day because there was a garter snake in their house. When I arrived, all four of them were seated on the couch with their feet tucked up, pointing at the bedroom.

I went upstairs and sure enough, there was a garter snake, basking in a little patch of sunshine on the floor. I picked it up and swaggered downstairs to show off my fearlessness.

Being a smartass, I hadn't paid attention to where I picked it up, and as I held it up to show them, it swung around and bit me! I felt like such an idiot. :D

Yikes! That snake really creeps me out, man. This weekend is the annual "Rattlesnake Festival" near us. I've never been, but Larry wants to go sometime. There are hundreds and hundreds of rattlesnakes in a pit and people can pick some up, etc. and eat rattlesnake meat. Just never sounded appealing to me.

You know, I wouldn't be "afraid" to eat snake, or to attend such a festival, but there are a lot of other things ahead of that on my list of things to do. I wouldn't make a slot in my schedule for this or for an insurance seminar, ya know? I'd be about equally interested.
