Note to self: no whining, no slacking
It's 81 degrees and sunny
So, I'm working on my first burn of the season while I sand Evan's "new" loft bed. Actually, It's probably near 10 years old or so. My sister brought it home from college after using it in her dorm room and used it till she left home. She gave it to us and I am knocking the rough edges and bent nails out of the unfinished wood. It is 2x4 and 4x4 construction. Evan will have a twin "loft" bed with a futon floor sofa (cushion and frame) underneath for sitting. It has a lot of potential. My son's rooms are waaay cooler than any of mine ever were.

Busy now, (this was a quick water break) browse later. I love all you guys, and I don't say that lightly. You are a bigger part of my day than you would know, or should be probably! ;-) Later! Sun's a wastin'

Current Mood: busy

Cool! Okay, so I am drawn to melancholy music. It's a weakness, I guess. But, at least it's not 70's disco or teen pop!

You sure didn't waste ANY sun--you got it ALL! It will be Aloe Vera/Lidocaine gel and Advil for the next couple days! Oh, and lots of laptop usage, attentive wifery and TV viewing too, I am sure! Thanks for the effort, but I am really sorry you fried! :(

We don't need real "fry weather" with our "all over butt whiteness"! We can probably fry in 70 degree sun!

Dag! You must live in Canada or something! ;-)

I like it a tad warmer thanks.

Yeah, so what happened to all of that? I got the sleep and Aloe, and the drugs, but I somewhat missed the TV/laptop and (ahem) "attentive wifery".

It coulda been worse, no fever or chills, or blistering. It wasn't as bad as I expected 7 hours in the sun to be. I got lucky... even though I didn't get "lucky" lucky.

my kids have wayy cooler rooms than i ever did, too.
altho, theyre much smaller than mine was.
My parents were doing pretty well , financially, when i decided to come along...but, the room was fixed how they wanted it.

my kids rooms are like cyclones hit them, and we got them blue light bulbs to stick in the ceiling fixtures..They think its great.
My boy's all Jimi Hendrixin' with the blue lights...Im all about not re he he ally being able to see the dust bunnies..;)

I hope to get some pics of the guys' rooms and post them sometime. They're pretty cool. No blue lights or dust bunnies! Although I tacked one of those strings/tubes/whatever of green lights under Evan's bunk so it gives off an eery green glow when the lights are off. It's really cool looking!

Sanding? You gonna paint my...er Evan's loft? I'm not sure about the 10 years old thing...my friend had one just like it, and she had hers made and delivered the year before I started at CU. It probably just had a hard life in some nasty boy's dorm room. It's a great bed though....I LOVED IT.

Do you believe I used the mattress that Mom and Dad bought me when I was 7 on it? I slept on that while I was home too...I told Mom..."Don't throw my mattress away." She was like..."That old thing?" I said, "Yeah, it sleeps so great."

No painting, just enough sanding to avoid any splinter accidents! You know how kids (boys especially!) can scrub a splinter up on just about anything!

And if we calculated what year it was "the year before" you started CU, what year would that be? I didn't see it when I was sanding, but at some point I saw something that said "'97/98" which prompted me to say it was a nearly ten year old bed. I don't know when you went to CU, but it has been several years since you left there, and at least a couple years you were there. Let me know what year you started. I think it's longer ago than you were thinking.

And why use the term, "some nasty boy's dorm room"? Are boys "nasty" now? Are you a heterophobe? ;-)

The mattress is still there.
brknconfidents From: brknconfidents Date: April 8th, 2005 02:56 pm (UTC) (Link)
I went in 1999. I never used that bed at school. If you'll recall we spotted it leaning outside the boys' dorms and decided to grab it up before we left in 2002.

No...I'm no heterophobe...those boys were nasty! I knew boys who lived in that dorm and when we're talking about people who smear poop on the wall of the shower because they think it's funny...they're NASTY!!! These were not my boys who did that, but the rank individuals they lived with. Ahem...NASTY!
