More about Lance...

I wondered about some of these things, and Jay had me checking this out because I have heard the same things about Armstrong that he said in a reply to me last week. However, rather than post this as a reply to him, I figured I would share it in its own entry in case anyone else was curious if Lance had dumped his wife after cancer treatment for Sheryl Crow. It is a matter of public record that he did not. Not saying he's an angel by any means. If you want to hate him, hate him because he likes yellow or because he flirted on a Blackberry device! ;-)

I did a quick search myself and found this information from

7/03/05: On July 25, 2005, whether or not Lance wins
the Tour de France a seventh time, he will be taking a scheduled holiday with
his three children and Sheryl Crowe.

How Lance and Kristin met:

They met in January 1997 at the "Ride for the Roses" charity event, which was a few weeks after Lance had completed
intense chemotherapy to treat testicular cancer. [He was diagnosed on October 2, 1996 according to the Nike commercial of his press conference.]

Lance and Kristin were married on May 8, 1998, in Santa Barbara, California.

Kristin and Lance announced their separation from one another on February 24, 2003.

After a brief reconciliation in June, 2003, the couple filed for divorce in September, 2003 and divorced in December.

Neither Lance nor Kristin were previously married.

Lance's Relationship with Sheryl Crow:

Lance Armstrong has been dating award winning musician Sheryl Crow. They met at the Grand Slam for Children event in Las Vegas in October, 2003. Armstrong and Crow flirted with one another through their Blackberries.

Their relationship became public shortly after his divorce from Kristin.

Children with Kristin:

Before he began chemotherapy for testicular cancer, Lance banked sperm. His children were conceived with that banked sperm. Luke (b. 10/12/1999), Isabelle Rose (b. 11/20/2001), and Grace Elisabeth (b. 11/20/2001).

And this additional info comes from here.

Lance about his three children, 4/18/05: "First and foremost, I think the biggest inspiration in my life now and the biggest inspiration to this decision is my children. They are the ones that make it easier to suffer, but they are the ones who have told me that it's time to come home. And so without them, none of this would be possible."

Lance Armstrong about his children, 4/24/04: "But it's true that my personal situation with my children in Texas and me in Europe is the hardest thing for me. In the spring I spend two months away, then spend a month at home and now it's been three months and I'll be home next week. This is what is unfortunately going to force me to change my schedule, because I refuse to do
that again. My kids are three years old and five years old and in three months they change completely and I'm not prepared to do that again."

Kristin Armstrong about the breakup of their marriage, 2/2003: Marriage problems were "brought on gradually by a number of pressures, rather than one big blow-up. We've been together 4 1/2 years, and we've had six homes, three languages, three
countries, one cancer comeback, three children, four Tour de France wins and one rise to celebrity. You're not supposed to cram such a huge amount of events into such a small period of time."

Lance Armstrong about his relationship with Kristin after their divorce, 9/2003: "The craziest thing is, we're closer now and better friends than ever before. We're truly committed to maintaining a good relationship, but not a marriage."
