The Peter Principle

I just learned of the Peter Principle. It is interesting to apply this to your own experiences in the jobs you've had. Oh, and if you are feeling really adventurous, or just have too much time to think on your hands (or mind that is, heh), try applying this to the hurricane Katrina debacle down on the Gulf coast.


Here's the principle:
It states that successful members of a hierarchical organization are eventually promoted to their highest level of competence, after which further promotion raises them to a level just beyond their highest level of competence.
