I've been raised using both and I'd have to disagree about the supposed learning curve when it comes to crossing over into different platforms. The only real difference for a casual user is that the icons are over to one side for one, and to the other side on another.

It's like choosing between a Ford and a Chevy: both are going to get you from A to B, it's just a matter of basic personal preference.

Macs are way more expensive, though.

Re: expensive?

Yeah but for the same $600 you can get a complete desktop setup from Dell with a couple of extras, too..

Like a child who is bilingual telling me how easy their "other" language is, I consider you somewhat biased in your opinion by your own statement: "I've been raised using both..." See what I mean? If you'd only ever used a PC, and recently switched to a Mac and found it an easy switch, THEN I'd believe you! No offense intended. I've only ever used a PC, though, so I doubt I'd find it an "easy" switch, though I'm sure I could manage it.

At this point, my real question would be "Why switch?" and I can't see a good answer to that for my purposes.

Honestly there really is no good reason to switch. My bias is more towards the Mac but they're for baseless and sentimental reasons. The bottom line of what I'm trying to say is that for you and I and most of us, unless we're scientists or graphic designers (which we're not), either platform is perfectly suited for our needs.

So save your money and put it in the ol' future college fund or something. :)
