Cell phone update...

Okay, the really great news is that my dried out cell phone works! You don't understand. In the slow motion of a really bad event, I saw the display screen on my cell phone as it lay on the bottom of the pool. I watched as it went blank. I was powerless.

After retrieving it, I separated the battery from the phone and began shaking out any moisture I could. I then set it on the kitchen counter for a few days to dry. I also set it on an AC vent in the living room, and on the dash of the car in the sun for awhile. Tonight I removed the screws behind the battery, and used a blow dryer just to be sure everything was as dry as possible. I got my wife's phone battery (expecting mine would need charging, at least) and powered up my phone. Beautiful!

The only bad news is that my battery is fritzed. It won't work or take a charge, the charger just cuts off. So, however much a new battery costs is how much this lesson has set me back. Better than a whole new phone so I ain't complainin'!

The best part is that I didn't lose all my contact info! I had a lot of stuff in my cell phone that I didn't have anywhere else. So, the lesson there is that I need to regularly check my cell for new contacts and back that info up on my box. Any ideas on the best way to do that? I'm guessing it's mostly a manual job.
