10/150 - The Rancho Commons — LiveJournal
Note to self: no whining, no slacking
30 minutes of the beloved cardio on the elliptical tormentor, aaaand did my regular weight workout, aaaand had an appointment with Antonio to add more machines to my repertoire this morning. Now I have two different strength workouts to choose from with alternate machines.

New workout exercises (started with low weights, expect to increase in the coming weeks):

-Leg extensions
-Seated leg curl
-Arm curl
-Tricep extension
-Lateral (shoulder) raise
-Fly machine (aka pec deck, I think)
-Torso rotations (for core strength, obliques, etc.)

I'm not sure how I will do this. Currently I do my original workout on M/W/F so I'm not sure when to do this one. I may just start doing the opposite workout every time I go.

I am coming up on 3 months of doing this very consistently and this new workout will provide some needed variety. I am excited, yes that's the correct word, about continuing with the weight machines.

Bruce, this is great! You seem very determined to get results here.

But your personal trainer's named Antonio? That's freakin' awesome in a borderline-stereotypical sort of way. :)

Antonio Ivory. I am not making that up! Only he's a tall thin black guy with no hint of hispanic heritage. Kinda ruins the awesome stereotypical thing, I know. I want him to sound like Antonio Banderas!

I AM very determined to get results. I recall you started running and got all serious a couple of years back so you know the deal. This is a MAJOR life accomplishment for me, as I come up on my 3 month mark of consistently working out at least three times a week, usually for about an hour.

All I need now is a convertible and a blond girlfriend at least a decade younger than me to complete the middle-aged trifecta! (Just kidding, Allie!)

You know, I was SO big, that the belly hasn't gone away, but it dropped like a preganant woman's. (Embarrassing to admit!) What was once dedicated, firm fat, is now soft and significantly diminished, though not so that anyone's noticed. I think the change is gradual enough that most people haven't seen any change whatsoever. I have.

My shirts are all looser, though not so loose I'm changing sizes yet. I don't start breathing heavy just squatting do retrieve something from under furniture. I can walk a couple of flights of steps without gasping. I'm physically stronger and I have more stamina. I don't get tired helping turn patients for example.

Most notably, I feel, physically, much better nearly all the time than I did prior to November 4, 2007. Much better.

As for the belt, nearly all the pants I wear have elastic waist bands. However, I almost have to hold my jeans on all gangsta like when I wear them. I need a belt, or some polka dot boxers to hang out the back. Belt preferred.
