On the way out of my workplace, there is a section of floor that is light and dark tiles, checkerboard style. I normally walk at a moderate pace with my head down looking at the floor, always have. I noticed recently that I was altering my gait to try and always step "mostly" on the dark tiles. Even after I realized this, I continued to do it. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "Why is it important to me to step on the dark tiles?" I have no answer.
