Wow! Sounds like you have one smart cookie on yoru hands. But don't worry about the time he is not learning in school, remember that socialization and people skills are developed through interaction with others. So while he may be picking up the subjects at hand in a relitively short period of time, he still gets to spend time building relationships with those around him.

Just food for thought.

Yep. This is the main reason I don't want to see him advanced, even if he was eligible. It seems like kids who get advanced to older peer groups like that a) get picked on for being a "freak", b) develop into "geeks" who don't associate effectively with other people, c) often end up "freaks" who have a head full of smarts, but are so bizarre socially, they are loners, whose only friend is their "work."

Instead, what I think I need to be doing is helping him develop his physical coordination and knowledge of sports. You know, as guys, it doesn't seem to matter how smart you are, if you throw like a girl! I think it would be a real confidence booster if he was more physically capable, but he shows very little interest in that area. We are going to work on that, though, as long as he is willing to do things like play catch and shoot some hoops, etc.
