I got your back

Another thing I found interesting was that all the judges are listed as "nonpartisan" rather than listing a political party with which they are affiliated. Is that fooling anyone? Is anyone in this country so naive as to believe that judges are actually impartial? Or "nonpartisan"?

Or reporters, or teachers, or anyone for that matter. It really crystallized for me, when every single Democratic presidential candidate, excepting Mr. Kucinich, stated that while they may hold deep and convicting personal beliefs, they would not allow those beliefs to influence their judgement as president. In the words of John Stewart, this is the sort of things that makes me go... WHAAAAA?!?

To my mind, there are only three reasonable responses to this.

  1. Thank you for defining the words "deep" and "convicting".

  2. You have no idea what you believe and will rely upon the moment to determine what is right and wrong, probably through extensive use of polls.

  3. You big honking liar.

Anyway, good post. I would write more, but I've got to get back to work.

Re: I got your back

I have been nearly overwhelmed by the volume of Dem puling coming out of LJ this AM. I remember back when I thought politics offered some hope, the crushing feeling of watching a sleeze like Clinton win the election. I was nearly phsically ill, especially with the second win. But I distinctly remember NOT whining about "The horror, the horror" to everyone who would listen, eh?

So, when are you going to get a job with enough slack time to hang out with me on the 'net? Diligence is overrated!
